DSL, WinXP and PPPoE
Posted 4/15/2003 by TweakXP Member

Using PPPoE and Windows XP, you may notice a slight hang after startup when you try to initiate a PPPoE connection. This is due to Windows XP trying to get an IP for your NIC. To avoid this:

  1. Goto Network Properties
  2. Select your LAN NIC
  3. Manually set the IP address

This won't affect your DSL connection, and will remove this annoying 30-120 second wait.

Hope this helps.
